Rockhounds and rainbows

The weather report announced a beautiful, sunny evening, but instead it started pouring rain right when we left home. The plan was to drive into the woods, look for the helicopter, and then drive a little further to a lake for a hike.
Things didn’t go exactly as planned.
– The helicopter was gone.
– We couldn’t find the path by the lake.
– It was raining so hard that we would have been soaked in seconds.
For a little while, we drove around, searching for the path, but with all the deforestation in the area, everything looked so different. The dirt roads don’t have names, so you either have to memorize directions or save the locations in an app. Tired from driving in the rain and a little confused by the missing path, we gave up and decided to drive home. Then suddenly the sun got a few rays of light through the clouds, enough to get us excited about going for a walk again. As we drove by, I chose this path leading up to a quarry. Many years ago (when Ravasz was still with us), we hiked this path in wintertime. The reason we had never been back was that we spotted some wild boar tracks. Kinda silly because they are more or less everywhere.
The quarry was bigger than the last time, and we could see much more of the rocks because there was no snow. Because of the rain, all the stones were wet and shiny, bringing out their beautiful, earthy colours.
Then, on the way home, while it started drizzling, the most beautiful rainbow appeared. Bright and colourful. Even a double one! At some point it looked so close that we could almost touch it- if only we could!
