Yesterday I walked a path in the woods where I hadn’t seen anyone before. It was warm and sunny but wit a perfect fresh breeze. A few tracks told me that once in a while there is another hiker, but as it’s rather far from any houses or villages I didn’t think about it. So when I suddenly heard a car approaching us, I snapped immediately out of daydreaming and gathered the dogs on the side of the path. With one hand I held Oona and with the free hand I could quickly wave hi to the man driving by.

As this path is a dead end for cars I knew he had to come back. It made me think… should I just continue or turn back and get our? I was a bit uneasy with the idea of getting in trouble for having my dogs off leash. During summer that is forbidden but I always let them run and play off leash- but I also keep them close and I am of course very strict on coming back when I ask for it.
When the car returned, I placed my dogs on the side again and stood next to them while facing the car. The man started to slow down and stopped right next to us. My dogs didn’t respond. The window slowly opened and a man looked as us silently for a few seconds. I greeted him while he leaned over to the passengers side and he said (in Swedish) that I had such beautiful dogs! He especially liked the Border Collie (Mogwai) and asked me how old she was. Then he suddenly decided to turn of the engine, stepped out of the car and asked me if he could cuddle Mogwai. She could come with him, he said joking.

He also got a flyer out and explained to me that there was some kind of event in August (still have to translate the flyer) en then he stepped back in his car and waved at me while driving away… leaving me baffled in the middle of the road, also waving 🙂
But kinda happy (and relieved) too.

And summer means of course many hours spent by the lake, swimming, playing and wrestling.  Seeing my dogs so happy and wild makes me the happiest person in the world, you know that feeling?
It might sound silly but Oona recently discovered ‘shaking’. Until now she used to drip dry- which is of course more work for us as I don’t like super wet dogs in the house 🙂

I just love how the tip of her tail is above the water surface…

Best place to caress Ravasz! He loves it. And the unusual short tail comes from the surgery he needed to remove a tumor on his back. The hairs grew back white because of the radiation therapy.

And did you see the lovely package we got last week? I made a little movie about it.
